Is there a way to set the X selection (either primary or clipboard)
from the command line?

Klipper (aka KDE Cut & Paste History) will launch an X app on a
selection that matches a pattern, e.g., it launches mozilla on a
selection that starts with http:// .

I'd like a way for urlview (a mutt helper) to pass an URL to the
selection so klipper can pick it up. Urlview can invoke mozilla
directly, but only when mutt is running on the same machine
as mozilla.

So is there an X program that can explicitly set the selection
from the command line?

    $ xsettheprimaryselection http://w3.org/
