That's the understatement of the week!  Still, mail is less convoluted
than printing.  Pseudo-proof: I've mastered mail delivery, but still
don't have a reliable network printing setup here.

Are you up and running with {fetch,get,proc}mail now?  If you have
more questions, we're here, with half a dozen different answers to any
question. (-:

BTW, here is my working .fetchmailrc, anonymized.  You might find it
useful as a starting point.

set postmaster "XXXX(user)XXXX"
set bouncemail
set no spambounce
set properties ""
set daemon 120
poll "XXXX(server)XXXX" with proto IMAP
        user 'XXXX(user)XXXX' there with password 'XXXX(password)XXXX' is 
'XXXX(user)XXXX' here
        options fetchall, mda "/usr/bin/procmail -d %T", no rewrite
