Have you not used xffm before? Simple, small but requires XFCE.
If you're running XFCE it's great but I'm not. I have used it
with Fluxbox and it may be what I end up with again. Just wanted
to see if anyone else had other recommendations. I've used mc
and gentoo FM's as well but I want just a tad more.
...

I'd be interested in a 2-panel FM like mc, but with a GUI (for image viewing and more). I didn't find such when I installed my Mandrake 9.x, so I settled with mc and stopped looking around.
Is there such ? ............. Horst

Slightly off topic: if you also have to administer Win boxes, 'Servant Salamander' may be your choice:

It is Norton/Midnight commander on steroids. Has all the 2-panel compare functions, hex viewer, image viewer, special viewer for executables, you can browse and search .tar, .tgz .gz .zip files w/o even expanding them . It shows hidden/system files that Explorer always hides, has a built-in zip utility, filter for each panel, file format converter between Unix, DOS, Mac (from each to each); highly customizable look and feel.
They have a stripped down version for free; a full featured beta version for free; the stable version is $25, as I recall. I found my gain in productivity more than justified the price.
