They might just do that but only if Novell makes the right moves to gain needed trust and support in the board room. If Novell's strategy is to move along business as usual and ignore marketing to Execs then Microsoft will probably use their market clout to crush them - again. One thing that I've noticed about Microsoft over the years is they only resort to work when they feel a real threat. (by the way, I believe that Microsoft is still capable of real work, they're just a bit rusty at it.)
