basically ignores the normal user/administrator distinction. Fortunately,

I really doubt this last statement. Try to buy a computer in a retail
store (Costco, Office Depot, Office Max, Circuit City, etc.). Every
single desktop will have either XP Home or XP Media Edition. The later
is based on Pro, but is only available on very high end systems. I know
this because I need a PC fast and I just looked at all of the stores
listed above. No XP Pro without spending $180 on the "Upgrade" edition
of Pro. I did find a couple of high end laptops that had Pro, but that
was it.
