Walter,
        try the following: "ls -lh /home" the leading "-" is most likely what
is screwing things up.  Which version of Fedora are you running?  Core 2
or Core 3?  Can you save the file in your /home/walter directory?  Or
does the whole "save" feature appear to be failing?
