If you don't reboot too often, more RAM is often a good substitute for
a faster drive.  My 2GB boxes are noticeably faster at lots of tasks
than my 768MB laptop.  Programs and files that I used yesterday are
often still in memory today.

If you haven't maxed out your RAM, try it.
