I have used mythtv before and it is not too hard to set up. There are
binarys out there for Fedora/Redhat, and Debian unstable, and there is a
very good guide (Jarods guide) on how to setup mythtv on Fedora, but I
found it invalueable for figuring out how to get cheaper connexant based
chips to work properly with mythtv in Debian.

I have a connexant bt878 (8bit) Proview playtv $36 based capture card, and
I just ordered from newegg a connexant based cx23xxx (10 bit)
LEADTEK/EXPERT TV2000XP $50 capture card so I can have two tuners. I also
ordered a Chaintech 7nif2 motherbaoard as the base for my mythtv box.

When its done it will be almost like a tivo, in that I will be able to do
all the TV based stuff with a remote control only, and the box will
automatically boot into mythtv when I turn it on. I havn't decided on
distro yet, Debian is my fav, but Fedora is a little easier to get mythtv
working on.

Getting mythtv itself working is easy, getting all the other stuff you
want to work like remote, fm tuner, tvout at boot time, takes a lot of
time. I expect it to take me about a week before I have everything
working the way I want.

I might be able to have a meeting at my house on thursday night. I have
room for about 4-8 people and 1.5Mbps DSL. I have never been to a euglug
meeting, but maybe I can have euglug come to me?
