This year EUGLUG is handing out Ubuntu Linux, because they will ship as
many 2 CD folder sets as we request, and we've tried it out and have
mostly liked it. One CD (called "Live") will install a Linux in memory,
but not to your hard disk, because that's for the install disk, where
it'll be your very own Linux until you reboot, when it'll revert to
Windows if you remember to eject the Ubuntu Linux Live CD.

Ubuntu means "humanity to others" and "I am what I am because of who we
all are" and other things as well, but Ubuntu Linux apparently names its
releases to demonstrate their contempt for sales and marketing, thus the
current release of Ubuntu Linux is Warty Warthog, and the version
that'll be out in time for EUGLUG to distribute at the Country Fair this
July will be Hoary Hedgehog. Mayhap they just like pigs.

There are CDs for three hardware architectures available; Intel x86
(IBM-compatible PC), AMD64 (Hammer), or Power PC (Apple iBook,
PowerBook, G4 and G5). A note appeared on the front page of
www.ubuntulinux.org to the effect that they're going to run out of Warty
Warthog soon, but they'll be taking orders for Hoary Hedgehog next month
when I'm ordering 300 Intel, 60 PPC, and maybe a half dozen AMD64
versions.

If you want to order your own through me, let me know. It'll be more
convenient for Ubuntu for us to combine orders, and no hassle for me to
add a few to the order.

Nothing here is meant to discourage EUGLUG members from burning whatever
distro (or Free OS) you wish, although perhaps Ubuntu would be
superfluous.
