Yeah, its acutally the only time ive had a real problem with E. I know it has 
nothing to do with the fglrx driver as im not able to use it at all. (I get a 
bunch of errors (I was looking those errors up when I bumped the mouse and 
had the settings menu issue).

I had to rpm -i --force to get the driver to install (its only distributed as 
a binary and compiled for redhat and suse). When X tries to load it, it borks 
with sybmol or link errors or something. I tried looking up the errors, but 
for somereason I cant find them in my /var/log/Xorg*

the atiixp module (for audio) seems to load just fine, loading a bunch of 
other sound modules... but no devices are created, and mixers just die when 
you launch them (complaing about device not being present).
