FYI. "The Lightning Project aims to integrate the open-source Sunbird calendaring solution into Thunderbird--as an agenda item for the far-off Thunderbird 2.0 release."
"The first Lightning release is planned for the middle of 2005. Lightning is a different project as the current calendar extension for Thunderbird and it is not planned to replace the current extension with Lightning. While the current extension only aims for a loose integration with Thunderbird, Lightning aims to integrate into the main Thunderbird UI and user interaction model as tightly as possible. With Lightning, Mozilla Thunderbird will have a set of user features that is much more competitive with Outlook, especially in enterprise usage. While Lightning is separate to Mozilla Calendar and Sunbird, the three projects will share large amounts of code." On a related note Mozilla Thunderbird 1.1 Alpha 1 was released today if you want to get in on the testing. http://news.com.com/Thunderbird+gets+podcasting+support/2100-1032_3-5729671.html For more about The Lightning Project see: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:Lightning http://www.babylonsounds.com/2005/05/finally-lightning-lead-developer-mike.html http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=6643 http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=5816 http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/archives/008156.html _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
