Aack! The friend from whom I just inherited that mobo had burned up his 1GHz socket 370 CPU! I coulda grabbed yours and put him back on the road in no time. Crikey, as it was, he runs off to Fry's (against my advice) and buys a brand new 3GHz MB/CPU combo that, turns out, won't run Windows98 SE. So now he's running XP and hating life. . . . Okay, team, let me put this idea out one more time: why don't we set up a EUGLUG hardware exchange? We'll use a local garage or basement to house the inventory, and we'll track and list it all on the Web site (I can code up an interface for that). A few trusty souls would have access to the place, so that whenever someone needs something, it can be obtained without much delay. I, like others of you, have a heap of stuff I'd love to donate before it becomes absolutely obsolete. And if you want to get a few bucks for some of your own pieces, we can just keep a money box on site. Can this possibly be a bad idea? Nobody has to try to build complete systems out of this stuff. Nobody even has to test it: that'll be up to the taker. All we need is a little space and a little planning. --Jason Van Cleve _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
