I'm currently running Debian Stable (Sarge 3.1) on a Sony Vaio PCGV505 with Pentium M, 12.1" screen, Radeon 9200 Mobility, 1GB RAM (no hi-mem kernel yet though :P). Hardware acceleration (as is customary) works in single-display mode (i.e., just the built-in 1024x768 LCD). Running external monitor with 1280x960. Cardbus works. Sony "MagicGate" card slot works. Ethernet works. No internal wireless. DVD/CD-RW burned under SimplyMepis 3.3, haven't used it yet with Sarge. Sound works. HP "Chicony" wireless keyboard/mouse works.

All of this worked "out of the box" except for the external monitor's native res/refresh, which required a quick transfer of the relevant XFree86Config-4 paragraphs from the prior installed distro (SimplyMepis 3.3).

Just curious what distro everyone is using on a laptop they
might own and how well things like suspend-to-ram/disk and
hibernate work for them? Speedstep doesn't seem to be an issue
but proper widescreen has only worked "out of the box" on one
distro out of three so far (FC4 worked, Mandriva 10.2 and
Kubuntu 5.04 failed) but FC4 puked after doing updates.
