Jason, Wow you're definitely observing much better download speeds than I am. Congrats. Time for me to do some fiddling again. The router, which may have impacted the speed tests I previously provided, is a 3 yr old NetGear RP614 (not wireless). It's done me well and I've updated firmware several times. But I will disconnect and run new speed tests.
Could be a config issue with your router. Clear your routers DNS cache along with releasing your router WAN IP and re-registering your DNS. And try resetting router to default and reconfig as needed (document the router admin settings first). Also may want to investigate updating firmware. Especially if using WLAN security or QOS functions. If you recently acquired a new cable modem or recently moved your broadband account to a new location you may need to manually reprovision your modem's MAC address with Comcast (since we're not in Comcast's legacy service area we can't auto provision). If not provisioned you would see the Comcast's "walled garden" page. I just installed Linksys WRT54G v3.1 at an associates location. Updated to the latest official firmware so it supports WPA2 in Enterprise mode (and Personal mode) and adds granular QOS controls. Working good so far but at this point only tested with WinXP SP2 clients. Understand a brand new v4.0 will be released shortly (and new higher end WRT54 GS and GX router hardware versions have recently been released if you desire AfterBurner or MIMO performance/range). The WRT54 routers run Linux embedded in a system on a chip. You have to watch Linksys as they slip in newer hardware versions without doing full announcements. The FCC website is good resource to see what new hardware versions are coming out soon (or later). If you're using wireless the rule is to match the router technology (and/or chipset vendor) to the client WiFi adapters in use. So with the WRT54G we're using the latest versions of WPC54G PC cards. When purchasing Linksys WLAN routers and adapters check the serial numbers on the bottom of the box to ensure you are obtaining the hardware versions you desire (don't rely on the hardware version printed on the box or the hardware or in the admin pages). The significant characters in the S/N are the first four.
