NVidia's nForce chipsets (such as nForce4-SLI) have always featured dual channel memory, and this is the chipset's biggest feature. So far all of the NVidia chipsets have pretty much been spot on, which is something that other chipset makers can't say (VIA 686B anyone?) Linux drivers are basically there and adequate for all of the bits in the chipset, and even the Windows drivers are above average. With NV chipsets, you have two options at this point, nForce3 (AGP) and nForce4 (PCIe). It is not a challenge to see why I chose the latter. In the realm of nF4, the top contenders are the nF4 Ultra and nF4 SLI. As it happens, if you buy the DFI nF4 Ultra board, you can modify it with a pencil to pretend to be nF4 SLI and plop a second graphics card in for about 90% performance of the more expensive board. But the Ultra boards are all around the $100 mark, and have features appropriate to a board at that price.
