MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. B.S. in Computer Science is required.
2. Minimum of three (3+) year experience working full time
as DBA (all aspects) with the MS SQL Server 2000 system in the
MS Windows multi-server (20+)/multi-database (10+) environment.
3. Three or more years (3+) experience in complex web site
development and programming (ASP, ASP.NET) in MS Windows
(Windows 2003 Server/IIS) environment, including graphics. 3+
years experience maintaining medium size (50+ pages) web sites.
4. Two or more (2+) years of experience using ASP.NET/ASP
with MS SQL Server 2000.
5. Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise tools expertise (3+
years), including Enterprise Manager and command shell/scripting
for DBA administration along with complex database design,
replication, operational support and administration of Microsoft
database technologies on the Microsoft platform (Windows 2003
Server/Windows XP).
6. Strong MS/SQL database administration and
implementation expertise and 3+ years expertise in TSQL
scripting/stored procedure creation/maintenance.
7. Strong technical writing and design documentation for
specifications experience.
8. Strong data replication architecture/design expertise
(3+ years) required.
9. Experience using Crystal Reports preferred.
10. At least one year experience using ASP.NET/ADO.NET
preferred.
11. At least one year of object-oriented programming
experience preferred.
12. Microsoft Certified Solutions Database Administrator
(MCDBA) current certification preferred.
13. Demonstrated ability in oral and written communication
and supervision.
14. Demonstrated ability to work with other people.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides ongoing maintenance and support of all college
databases.
2. Assists in the formulation of NCCs overall technology
plans and objectives by providing advice and counsel to
management concerning the database technology and developments
that affect those systems being considered for the database
environment.
3. Performs capacity planning, performance monitoring and
tuning, backup/recovery and problem determination and
resolution.
4. Determines structural and storage requirements for the
development of databases through systems analysis and design to
ensure the most efficient customer database.
5. Ensures database security by establishing data access
and modification rights of the users through the utilities
provided within the database systems.
6. Determines the standards and strategies for accessing
the databases via programs, on-line query languages, report
generators, or other access technologies to ensure consistency
and efficiency.
7. Develops and maintains database programming standards
and naming conventions.
8. Integrates college databases into a comprehensive store
system to ensure consistency/efficiency and prevent
duplications.
9. Assists with database development and support; designs
and develops reports and queries on the database systems.
10. Develops, and maintains all pages of the college web
sites including programming, graphics, and layout.
11. Applies approved web standards consistently to the
college web sites.
12. Develops and maintains web based applications using
appropriate technology.
13.Administers and maintains college web servers.
14. Performs other duties as indicated by Director of IS.
OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Position requires working in a no smoking office
environment with occasional lifting and exertion for short
periods, occasional evening and weekend work.
