Yes Joseph, Gentoo it is for me. The same holds true for "rpm
hell" too. I've certainly enjoyed Ubuntu on my laptop. It holds
back packages that aren't ready for primetime without holding
them all the way back to plain ol' Debian. Package managers of
any sort can make it a little awkward when you're wanting to try
something new/non-free/unpackaged/etc.. which is where binary
capability would be great. Opera was the perfect example
mentioned.


Ubuntu today surprised me and let me down by a complete failure to:

# apt-get install lbxproxy

Which even Debian has been able to sanely do for years!
