Not quite sure what you're asking:

Do you have a bootable Windows installation which you need to preserve data on?

Do you have a bootable Linux installation on the same drive?

but no bootloader?

"fdisk /mbr" will almost certainly leave you with a non-bootable system; if you can boot into Linux on your drive but not Windows, maybe try "grub" to install Grub (should detect your Windows partition automatically)

Please clarify and hopefully we can give better advice :)
