Suffice to say the value I got out of the training did not merit the cost of
attending and the hours charged to my employer for the time I was
out-of-office and at training. I would probably now not attend a CM training
even if it was provided for free. My time is more valuable than that. YMMV.

Thanks for the info Darren.

Arguement in favour:

I too have had bad luck with training classes in the past... but if this class lives up to what they say it is then it should cover a lot of the basics.... Sure, I could glean all that info from books and the web, but at least this puts everything in front of me in just two days... and they offer (supposedly) your money back if not satisfied....

Since I'm a newbie at Linux I wouldn't mind a fast track to more knowledge... I've been reading/studying quite a bit....

My boss is kinda funny at times.... a couple months ago he put the brochure for this class on my desk and said I should consider going.... I took a pass based on my past experience.... then Tues I come in and the brochure is opened on my desk with the Eugene dates circled.... I took another look and this time said sure, I'd like to go, then emailed him that I wanted to sign up.... then he emails back that he wants me to 'sell him' on the value I might get from going to justify the expense.... funny, funny guy...

I've learned a lot these last 5 months but it's been mostly by being forced to deal with something or studying on my own time... I don't think it's that unreasonable of me to get my employer to pay for a fast track to this knowledge....

Arguement against:

On the other hand, I might entertain the idea of contracting one of you guru's to teach me all the class content, assuming it could be done for less $$$.... I wouldn't mind the one on one time either.... hmmmm - there's an idea...
