What I'm wondering is if there's a config file somewhere where I can

Btw, I'm running Debian Sid.
Gruff answer: man 7 wireless
Friendly answer: Look at the wireless(7) man page, and also
interfaces(7). They will explain what to put into
/etc/network/interfaces to configure your card at boot.
To test, use "ifup wlan0" and "ifdown wlan0".
