I need a resolution asap....
Long story... we have been in crisis mode here for the last week due to
a flaky drive on our Accounting box. New box built, stuff installed,
back up and running for the most part.
Problem: We had a custom piece of code written to download Order info
from our postgres DB and import that info into QB. That piece is missing
or retrieving it off the backup is going to be *very* problematic and
time consuming.
What format was QB loading it in. If you know the query being used
it's relatively trivial to write something that iterates through the
resultset and outputs .QIF or .csv
and then hand them off to QB via DCOM with $favorite_windows_scripting_language
I know virtually nothing about this program/code, other than out of the
blue I'm told about this missing piece.... I was told it took about a
year to develop for some reason and cost some decent $$$$...
Attempts to contact the author of the code have so far been
unsuccessful. He's supposedly still around, just hasn't returned my
calls or email.
It's not David Caruso, is it?
No, not David. Some dude in Arizona
Question: Does anyone happen to know if QB type custom mods need a super
special install program, or is there a chance in hell I can copy off the
progs I can dig up from the old drive, copy to new box, and be
(hopefully) off and running? I am told that we'll need the SDK (got it)
but I was thinking I might get lucky with a straight copy of the stuff.
I have no idea what language these are written in, but a clue is that if
the SDK is required then that should narrow the list.
Which version of QuickBooks?
There is a ColdFusion plugin to access QB, but I suspect you'll want
to look at either the Visual Basic or Visual C++ interfaces.
(intuit SDK is VB only)
QB 2004 Pro. I'm not the one installing it and have never had my own
hands on the disks...
