VMware is way too slow and buggy
to not be noticed.
Note that VMware is not VMware accross the board. If your comparing
VMware workstation then yea there are perfomance issues.. but
workstation does best saving snapshots of multiple trees - for recovery
.. testing etc..
GSX is a lot like VMware workstation - it has the wides support for
drivers since it runs on windows. but it too is slower
ESX - now if you havent ran ESX .. you really havent ran VMware .. Its
built on Red Hat and screams. ESX Side by side with XEN ? I'd love to
benchmark that.
Also I've seen ESX 3 ... out .. well hopefully soon so I can clean up my
drool. Grid computing support, greater cluster & SAN support.. and a
lot of new tweaks on the management end... like more intelligent
failover ( without the virtual ever going down )., Think about it ..
your building gets nuked by Al-dorka and your server never goes down
becasue they fail over to your hot site 30 or more miles away.
