The guy who owned them worked for Symantec. The HD's were part of a vintage
raid array. I never got them running, so I never wiped them. I like to
believe he did. I'm comfortable that they are working, but "free is a very
good price."
You may want to send try MacRenewal (1). I know when I gave them a pile
of stuff they were excited about the stack of 9 GB SCSI drives....
