me, never. I don't use mixed environments. but [email protected]
gets reports of this issue on a fairly regular basis.

because they are 32-bit binaries?

no. I don't use samba though. I do use bind, mysql and apache on amd64.

AFAIK, recent versions of samba are fine on amd64.

they are becoming more rare, as more people become aware of the issues.

well, actually gstreamer-0.8 doesn't support amd64 if the platform
doesn't have a certain function. don't remember what the function is
off-hand, but if it is missing, gstreamer has an assembly version.
but there was no amd64 version of the assembly.

I'm sure there are some examples out there (anything that hasn't had
a new release in the last 1.5 years is more likely to have problems)
but I can't think of anything that is still being maintained that
is not 64-bit aware (gstreamer-0.10 is fine on amd64, for example).

well, actually, X has some API oddities (confusing) that seem to
trip up people. but it seems most of these have been fixed now
as well.

people have been using 64-bit platforms as servers for quite some
time. most (almost all) of the issues I've seen were in "desktop"
software.
