Mid level Acer Travelmate 4202 - 15.4" screen, 1GB RAM, 1.66Ghz Core Duo, 100GB Drive, DVD-RW, 802.11b/g under $1300. What does the Mac have that it doesn't? DVI out (supporting two ANALOG monitors or one digital), Bluetooth, possibly Firewire, and the nifty power plug.
Personally, me thinks the Apple machines are OVERengineered. When upgrading an optical drive for someone we had to remove 22 freakin' screws!! The typical laptop is as little as ONE! Guess what, even with one screw the drive isn't going anywhere! /rant Mr O. P.R. (Post Rant) Dell sucks too. (remind me to paint mine to conceal its identity) --- "T.
