Yeah, overkill for a fishtank I'd wager... ;) I'd be interested to see what your electrical nerd comes up with. I'm a pseudo-electrical nerd myself, so I'm always looking for fun/useful mid-level projects. If he comes up with something good I'd love to see some designs.
