I am glad to hear that, Brian. Let me know how it goes.

On another note, I am leaning towards D-Link if I can find one that is easy to implement (translation:native support) since I was so impressed with their customer service. I recently bought one of their 11.g routers, and called customer support to ask questions about it's compatibility with DirecWay satellite internet modems. The young man, whose name was 'Larry', came on after a very short wait (1 - 2 minutes), and knew exactly what I wanted, was very courteous, and easy to talk with. I ordered the router while he was helping me, and told him so, and he was very pleased. Nice service, and his help was exactly correct.

I don't know about you, but I personally find a LOT of added value in good customer service.

Regards, Jim

By tear up I meant open up shielding to examine chipset for hardware verification of lspci.

Serendipitously, this discussion and my hardware manipulation of video cards lead to a major breakthrough for me. So...

Thank you,

Brian

I know you are busy with your German exchanger, so you can pick this up next week, if you like. After spending three years in southern Germany I was in love with the bier, the people, and the land. Have him drink a bier for me when he gets home!

how reliable is the lspci command in identifying the chipset or is a physical identification required? I don't want to tear up these cards if I don't have to.

Brian

Seems to work fine. It identified the card as a TI chipset. I'll keep you posted as I progress. Looks like it might be awhile now though, since a friend wants to 'try Linux' and I may loan this box to him so he can play.

Keep your cards. Try lspci. Log in as root to do so however.
