No I didn't use LVM. Before I even started partitioning it only showed 152
GB for both identical Seagate UATA/100 160 GB drives. I was playing with
RAID on Ubuntu and FC4, so I was loading and reloading as I learned about
RAID setup. I even wiped the drives between OS loads a couple of times. I
setup LVM on a couple loads. Ubuntu always showed 160 GB from the start and
FC4 always showed 152 GB.

As it is. I'm starting to look at changing the configuration of these
computers. I can put this softRAID on any MB. I'm still evaluating based
on which system with on board video can run Blender software. I don't think
I'm going to let 8 GB get away if I can help it. I wanted a solid backup
strategy. The missing GB's give me the willies.

Are you using LVM? What file system did you use?
