Great idea for gmail hack, possibly implementable in GreaseMonkey:
Allow multiple-select of labels in gmail [trivial]
(this can just put in a search of "label:x label:y label:z etc")
Also, offer mbox reformatting of emails & a script to pull to local files, all matches of a desired search pattern,
or better yet, ability to map labels to folders -- only issue here is the handling of duplicates, which I think has been covered elsewhere.

Joseph, and others:  has anyone gotten any first-hand Zimbra reports?
Joseph, I agree that multiple folders should be easier -- IMO google has simplified the interface, and it would be nice of them to offer a "classic" vs. "gmaniac" interface option :)

cheers,

Banshee seems not to have the browser feature built into iTunes..  Cmd-B
in iTunes brings up a frame at the top with a list of genres, artists, and
tracks.  Selecting any of these limits the track display by whatever of
those criteria you select.

I've really started to get into the idea of using databases with indices
and selections to find what I want to see.  It's extremely handy, and it
really does seem to be the trend in managing a user's data in most areas.
I say most because the one area that still would benefit is the one that
so far is least developed in my mind: Email.

Gmail doesn't make it quite as easy as I would like to sort or select by
multiple categories on the fly.  Its ability to be really smart is limited
somewhat by the fact that the data is all kept on Google's servers/  It
also doesn't doesn't really have anything I would consider equivalent to
seperate mail folders, which is important when you're on as many lists as
I am.  At the same time, the standard method of storing one message per
file in an unindexed flat file tree demonstrates itself as slow and
difficult to use for large volumes of mail.

There's also the fact that I would prefer to do this from the console.
Basically, I use mutt and I like mutt.  I just want it to operate a little
faster and have it be smarter about handling lots of folders at once.
