attics arent really so bad... fiberglass probably wont bother you, but if your afraid of it, or have to mess with it, long sleeves/pants talcum powder on your hands feet, and tape between gloves and sleeves/pants and shoes.
The spiders and snakes however may hurt you :) In this region, you probably wont find snakes, but there are brown recluse, and black widows. Seriously though, you probaby wont have any problems with the attic. crawling under houses can be much nastier... you will find dead animals, bugs, snakes, rodents, standing water, ... The benefits of running pretty clear, performance, and security. If your never going to transfer large files, and dont have any radio interferance, then wifi may work just fine. Adding cable to a home will improve its value a considerable amount (much more than the materials cost), and is prettymuch always a good investment (even if you dont own it, you can improve your chances of getting your deposit back if youve made improvements.
