Trouble Wi-Fi Linking my Linux Laptop to my Mac Pro Airport

I want to connect my Laptop running Linux to my Tower running Mac OS X

My laptop is a ASL Excaliber 600 with a ASUS Sonoma/Centrino mobile running Fedora Core 5

My Tower is a Mac Pro with 2 3 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeons running OS X 4.7

On the Mac I have Airport Extreme and I create a network
called Harald Sundt's Computer
and choosing show options and enable encryption (WEP)

I must enter a password that is either 40 or 128 bit

40 bit needs 5 ASCII or 10 HEX characters
128 bit needs 13 ASCII or 26 HEX characters

I generally try 13 ASCII characters for my password

On the Linux side my computer finds Harald Sundt's Computer signal no problem

BUT I puts up a menu with 2 places for data entry

First it needs to know if it needs a
WEP 128 bit Passphrase
a
WEP 64/128 bit HEX
or a
WEP 64/128 bit ASCII

Second it needs to know if it is an Open System or a Shared Key.

I try all kinds of combinations. Always, after entering a key, the enter a password screen returns for me to try again! HelP

Thanks Hal
