ER06-22                      Unix System Administrator
Dept:                        Information Technology

Duties:
Administer and support the corporate UNIX/Linux servers, Storage, and
Tape Backup infrastructure. Also administer and support network
services, such as, but not limited to DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NIS, NFS, etc.

Manage the installation, maintenance, and recovery of UNIX/Linux
servers, including the configuration of Veritas Volume manager & file
manager, Veritas Cluster, Legato Networker, SAP, Oracle, etc.

Provide technical ingenuity in the automation of routine administrative
tasks and processes through scripting and other methodologies. Install,
maintain, and support cross-platform storage systems: SAN and NAS
(Storage Tek and EMC). Monitor and evaluate servers, storage, and tape
backup performance. Identify problem areas.

Manage user accounts, groups, file permissions, network shares, and
other daily network administrative tasks.

Nurture an environment of "high availability and redundancy" for
business critical systems and services, including a documentation
framework for standards, policies, and procedures.

Implement and support 3rd party server applications and databases that
are specific to departmental functions.

Provide technical skills and knowledge in server architecture;
specifically SUN and Compaq Proliant server products.

Work with cross-functional teams to support tasks and projects to meet
business objectives.



Experience:

Minimum five (5) years of experience in the administration and support
of the Solaris/Red Hat/SUSE Operating Systems. Must be well seasoned in
the fundamental of Sun Solaris administration and support. A functional
proficiency with enterprise-class server hardware is an expected and
necessary skill-set. Experience in other technology areas is desirable.
Such areas include, Microsoft networking, Cisco LAN/WAN, and Avaya
telecommunications. An additional asset would be experience managing
technology projects and teams.

Must have exceptional problem solving skills, ability to work utilizing
individual initiative while working within a team environment. Must be
able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Education:

            BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
