There seems to be a growing conversation about "co-working" where groups of people who might otherwise gather in random warm places, work together to create a common space.
The http://www.hatfactory.net has an interesting group of people at it. They are in the Bay area. One of the people who is working on a project that I am tracking is there. I recently went to the barcamp discussions up in portland http://barcamp.org/BarCampPortlandMeetups And some of the main people at the barcamp discussions are part of the coworking discussions in Portland. http://coworking.pbwiki.com/CoworkingPortland I wonder if your search for a place to hang might evolve into a Coworking conversation?
