[Eug-lug] Linux modem question

I'm about to buy a modem from ebay for my mother to use with Ubuntu. The 
seller claims it works with Linux and the vendor's site has some Linux 
driver updates, but I haven't been able to verify this anywhere else. 
Could anybody tell me if they think this modem will work before I buy it?
