Nintendo makes an access point for the DS that plugs into a USB port, although I think it only works with Windows XP. I think there's a third party one out too but I don't know how well it works.

I doubt there will be any firmware upgrades for the DS - risking a chance to brick end-users' DSes just to upgrade the wifi capabilities probably doesn't appeal to Nintendo. Which sucks (I have one and I'm stuck with WEP + MAC addy filtering).
