Been there, done that. Led one on that said 'she' was a model
that wanted to come back home to the US. Had 'her' send me the
check then I called the company on the check and worked with
them. Too bad I wasn't compensated for it. In the end I told the
scammer they did a reasonable job and told them be careful not
to get their fingers cut off for illegal activity as they
deserved that much.
