involved in building a great software development team.

    * Defining the Positions
    * Recruiting the Players
    * Pre-Game Scrimmage
    * Game Time

*SPEAKERS:*

*Cary Kiest, VP of Engineering*, Deep Photonics
<http://www.deepphotonics.com>

Cary Kiest currently works at Deep Photonics Corporation, a
Corvallis-based startup that are developing a new category of deep
ultraviolet lasers. Cary grew up in the Portland area and attended
University of the Pacific in California, where he earned a Bachelor's
Degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he moved back to
Oregon and landed his first job in Corvallis at Intelledex, designing
automation systems based on machine vision and and robotics technology.
After that he spent two years designing and installing various control
systems for Lucidyne Technologies where he met and worked with Lucidyne
co-founder Joseph LaChapelle. In 1991, Joe and Cary left Lucidyne to
start Techné Systems in Albany where they designed and built various
machine vision systems for industrial inspection applications. In 1997
they sold Techné to Electroglas, Inc., of Santa Clara, California,
renamed the company Electroglas Inspection Products, and relocated to a
larger facili! ty in Corvallis. Cary remained on at Electroglas
Inspection Products as VP of Engineering until June, 2003 when a
difficult business climate prompted Electroglas to abandon the Corvallis
facility and sell its assets.

After spending the summer on his mountain bike, Cary returned to work in
November, 2003 for ATS Systems Oregon, holding various positions
including Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, and Applications
Engineering Manager. Cary left ATS in January 2006 to join Deep
Photonics where he continues to work presently.
