it's a lot of fun to see these contraptions, have you heard of the Kinetic
Sculpture Race in Ferndale CA?
I'll answer for Allen.
Yes, the KSRs run all through the Pacific Northwest. The original was
in Eureka, CA, I think. Corvallis runs a KSR as part of da Vinci Days
every July. Allen lives in Corvallis, so...
Yes, there are a dozen or so worldwide. The next race coming up
is in Port Townsend, WA. After that is Ventura, CA.
I like doing the parade circuit, especially night parades. There
was a lighted bike parade at the EC later in the day after this
parade. The first annual. We also do the (night) Xmas parade in
Corvallis and the Starlight parade.
My KSR(s) don't have Linux *yet*. I'm working on that. With
KangaRex (shown in the video) I plan to control the animatronics
from a Nokia. We almost have the computer mounted to the frame
of KangaRex. Once it is in control I can drop the OT from the
subject line. :-) And of course a stuffed Tux doll will ride
with us wherever we go.
Speaking of Tux, http://www.computergear.com/ is selling a 22 inch
one for $19.99. http://www.computergear.com/largetuxdoll.html
Seems like a good price. Anybody know of a better price for a
big one?
