I already got one.  The D-Link DNS-323.  It does FTP, SMB/CIFS, and
can serve up media with an "iTunes server" or uPNP AV server.  I
haven't found details on whether that is DMAP or not.

Yes, I've connect my MacBook to my TV and tested this out.  I've been
encrypting some DVDs we own using Handbrake and it works very well.  I
like it.

I like to use MacPorts for installed open source software.  I just
looked and it has mt-daapd but no firefly.
