OK. I think I figured it out.  You have to manually select the
audio in and audio out devices.

Audio doesn't work the same as it did with the non-video skype.
Or maybe it is the kernel.  Hard to tell since I have no other
use for a microphone.  Problem is the input sensitivity on the
mike is very low now.  With the old skype on the old Linux OS
the audio was much better.

Doesn't help that I don't really understand the KMix mixer.
Seems like the input sliders have no effect.  At least none of
the sliders adjusts the microphone volume as heard by skype.
However the switch for "Mic Boost" helps.  Without that my
voice is barely audible in the test call.
