Hey, that would very likely get me out of my chair long enough to finally make it to a meeting. Messing with partition screwups is something I do promply as soon as I forget what I learned the last time. :-) And I've never taken the time to do the deep dive into Linux that I did with all of my other operating systems dating back to CP/M. What I know about Ext3 would be dwarfed by a quantum. BTW, my critical missing files are my Netscape format bookmarks and an SQLite database for the Zotero web research assitant, both stored in my Firefox profile directory structure. About 3 months worth of legal and factual research on new Microsoft antitrust issues ,including tons of web page and PDF snapshots lost because I had my backups misconfigured. The money I saved by selectively backing up directories is starting to look pretty puny. :-)
