And they've actually gotten to 5.0a (bugfix release) at this point.
I've been playing around with the latest version under both XP and
Ubuntu 7.10 and it's working swell so far. I will note that since
my Ubuntu distibution is x86_64, pre-compiled pacakges were not
available and I had to build from source. Unfortunately, the source
doesn't build cleanly under x86_64-- you need to get a patch from
the Gentoo guys:

It's also probably worth noting that at this point I'm only encrypting
my data partitions-- I'm still a little wary of encrypting my boot areas.
Also somewhat related, there's been a lot of buzz today regarding some
interesting work retrieving disk encryption keys from DRAM, even after
the machine has been powered-down and back on again:

Turns out DRAMs are a lot more persistent than people may have thought.
