Brian, if you haven't already, reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clearwire might fill in some gaps for you... So there are lots of complaints out there about ClearWire, but it does work. They piggy-back the installation of their WiMax antennae on existing cell towers, as I understand it, hence the reference to cell tower proximity/direction.
