[Yep, this Tuesday is the monthly IT Pro Forum meeting! Another awesome speaker this month...] Lessons for Computer Security Professionals from Anthropologists Mike Simon, Creation Logic 6:30pm Tuesday, Feb 15th Eugene City Brewery (downstairs)
What does a study of Balinese water temples have federal regulators have to do with information security and governance? More than you might think. Mike's talk will be about what happens when information security is presented as an absolute with right and wrong answers, comparing it to a project by the Balinese government to "modernize" the irrigation systems. Mike Simon has been working in computer security and policy development since 1985. From 1993 through the present time, Mike has been involved in building security awareness and improving the security posture for hundreds of companies as Chief Scientist for his own consulting firms. Mike is responsible for designing security policy that protects multiple industries, including health care, biotech, military, streaming media, power infrastructure, water infrastructure, financial institutions, e-commerce and aerospace. Mike is and adjunct faculty member for the University of Washington, and also lectures and serves on the Advisory Boards of several information assurance and computer security programs in the Pacific Northwest. He currently serves as the President of the Seattle area InfraGard chapter. _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
