I use xine on Linux and have NEVER had to set a region code. Many dvd players will play region free if you know how to get to the secret menu. They will also play NTSC and PAL formats. Look for the chinese players that are sold all over the world. (Philips players are good.) If you want to know if you can make a player region free just Google the model number. One of the top three links will have the region free codes for the player. The software dvd players for Linux ignore region codes. I have a bunch of region 2 PAL discs, as well as a number of other regions and have not had a problem with region playing in Xine or Mplayer. (They also deal with Region 1 RCE discs that try and disable region free players. Some players also use the same bypass.) If you have any problems send me an email and I will see what I can do. _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
