.asc .cer .cert .p12 .p7c .pgp .pem .gpg .pfx .crt .der are all pgp/gnupg file extensions. Generally the file name is the system (never root) or logged in user name plus the extension for locally controlled privacy. Apparently there's not much in the way of naming convention for imported keys other than .crt is what you're working with.
