  - The Mars rovers are "still alive long after their expected lifetimes, but ... are experiencing some aging problems," the Associated Press reports Aug. 5.  NASA reports Spirit has climbed higher into the Columbia Hills to explore a bedrock exposure named Clovis.  Opportunity has driven about 20 meters into Endurance Crater, examining increasingly older layers of bedrock as it advances.  Both rovers have recently sent error messages back home, but engineers are working around the problems.
