Interesting. You gave me the model description so I'll try and find out the 
power requirements - maybe maplin or similar have a generic PSU which works? 
(rhetorical q - I'll check)

I've had some success there in the past.

In which case we may want to scale back ambitions initially to try and get 2 
tracks worth rather than just 4. (To try and be realistic - I'd rather get 2 
tracks well than 4 tracks badly)

I wondered about that. Even with the 10x mag one which I borrowed and used 
last year, having tried various mics I discovered why a balanced audio input 
a) is worth it b) costs a lot more!

It'll be easier, but sync will still be hard. (Which is why I didn't attempt 
it last year incidentally)

I'll see what I can do and get back to you. Actually playing with the cameras 
you have and seeing the limitations would be great.
