Michael,

In related news, should we get "EuroPython 2007" created on
indico.cern.ch?  Install Indico ourselves somewhere?

For doing it on cern.ch:

pro
- allready installed
- updates are taken care of by CERN
- indico worked rather very robust for 2006, proven system
- support was fine and quick

con
- we are limited to what they are allowing us (reminder: payments)
- are we really allowed to do that? (i.e. CERN has nothing to do with EP 2007)
- will we still get support for free?
- will CERN have time to do anything for EP in 2007? remember, the LHC will propably work, maybe they detect the Higgs and could care less about anything else

for having an own installation:

pro:
- we are unlimited in extending
- EP becomes "self hosted", just as PyPy
- we are independend of CERN allowing us and do not distract them from detecting the secrets of the universe
- we can integrate indico better within the EP website

con:
- "we" need to do the work of installation & maintainance
- we need the server, bandwith and all
- all the work, all the work

My vote is for installing an own indico instance.

Harald
