I do agree with John. Pycon Italy could never be during the week... Most people here in italy work on *python-friendly* companies and would never come outside weekends. This year we tryied to have the opening on friday and we had less then the half presence. I also agree that EP has a smaller percentage of hobbists and i feel very confortable that the main reason is that it's during the week and not on weekends.
